drirelease® Helps Joplin, MO Tornado Victims with Donation
July 14, 2011
Wilmington, DE, June 14, 2011. drirelease®, a premier technology used by athletic apparel manufacturers worldwide to develop garments with superior wicking, fast-drying, and odor control attributes, is helping tornado victims and relief workers in Joplin, MO with a donation of 1,000 drirelease tee shirts.
The drirelease team has partnered with R&R Trucking, a freight carrier based in Joplin, to deliver 1,000 SOFFE drirelease tee shirts to the R&R terminal in Joplin, where they are managing the distribution of supplies to the local community. R&R has also partnered with the College Heights Christian Church, a Joplin-based church that is also helping to distribute supplies to their community. The Joplin tornado hit members of the R&R Trucking family particularly hard—a number of them have lost their homes, but all feel lucky that they suffered no fatalities in the recent tornado.
“The outpouring of support has been tremendous,” said Leroy Barnhill, a Terminal Manager at R&R who has been closely involved in the relief efforts. “We needed raincoats, we got raincoats. We needed gloves, we got gloves. Now with the 95°F weather and high humidity, the drirelease shirts will be really helpful to the people in Joplin. We really appreciate all the support so far, but these people will need help for a long time to come,” concluded an emotional Barnhill.
“We cannot begin to imagine what the people in Joplin are going through right now,” said Chris Moore, General Manager of Optimer Labs and the nephew of Mr. Barnhill. “A lot of the people helping with the relief efforts are the same people who have lost everything, so we hope our small donation helps them by providing some clothes on their backs that can also keep them comfortable as they undertake the tremendous challenge of rebuilding their community.”
The College Heights Christian Church has set up specific sections of its website to provide information on relief items needed, how to provide financial donations, and how to volunteer. To access this information, please visit their website at www.chcchurch.org.

Optimer Brands, formerly known as Optimer Inc., a Sterling Capital Partners company, is based in Chicago, IL, with operations in Wilmington, DE.
Founded in 2001, Optimer Brands conducts textile research, development and marketing and has a scientific staff credited with over 100 patents and developments. drirelease® is a registered trademark of Optimer Brands. It is a patented, intimate blend of synthetic and natural fibers that combine wicking and quick drying attributes into a single yarn. Instead of spreading the moisture across a fabric’s surface, drirelease actually pushes it to the outside of a garment, releasing water and perspiration faster than any other performance fabric on the market. drirelease includes the added benefit of FreshGuard®, an odor neutralizer embedded in all drirelease fabrics that virtually eliminates odor without using harmful chemicals. All drirelease attributes are inherent to our yarns, meaning they will not wear or wash out. For more information, visit www.drirelease.com.
FreshGuard® is a registered trademark of Optimer Brands. It is an odor neutralizer embedded in all drirelease fabrics. It eliminates odors in garments by blocking odor-causing sebaceous body oils from attaching to the fabric – also stopping the attraction of odor-causing bacteria. Not an anti-microbial or anti-bacterial, which attack bacteria that possess positive functions, FreshGuard is environmentally friendly. For more information, visit www.drirelease.com.BACK TO NEWS
